It's been a great few days in the BVI. Tuesday and Wednesday were the pre-races before the "actual regatta", which starts Friday. Tuesday was the around the island race. We raced around Tortola and we got 9th. It was a beautiful sail, maybe not the best race for us but so what, we are in the Caribbean. We were 6 seconds early off the race line so we had to wrap back around the starting line...the winds were 14-17 knots. Perfect conditions really,
This has been such a fun crew! Nobody is a professional sailor, some know way more than others but we are all taking it in...loving sailing in the Caribbean, loving trying to be competitive and enjoying the experience together.
Wednesday was race to Scrub Island. We came in 7th and had a great race day. The winds, weather and crew had a great experience. Once we got to Scrub Island we had an awesome BBQ lunch, drinks and an awesome swim at the beach hanging out on the water trampoline.
Today (Thursday), is a rest day. A few of us came to Cane Garden Bay to eat at Myett’s for lunch.
Later we plan to snorkel at a local reef. Nice day for some R&R. Captains meeting is tonight and the actual regatta starts tomorrow. Another Dave will join us this evening to crew with us the next three days bringing our boat to 9.
